One of the big challenges on the road to a wider adoption of privacy protocols is their inherent complexity - even besides the need for computing proofs, users need to keep track of additional secrets that are generated with each new note. In this bounty we ask hackers to implement shielder support in a basic wallet that we provide, focusing on the user experience - making it as smooth as possible without sacrificing the security.

Aleph Zero - UX

In scope of this bounty we are open to submissions implementing any interesting cryptographic improvement for the shielder, as well as non-trivial applications of it. Some suggestions include:
-Designs based on computationally limited trusted third party: we are currently working on adding an MPC component to our frameworks, with the main goal of replacing trusted components in designs that rely upon their existence. Can you propose a non-trivial protocol, in which existence of a trusted third party is absolutely necessary, but in which the actions of such a party are limited to, say, constant number of secret multiplications per user input (additions and multiplications by public constant are cheap for MPC)? It can be either a user-facing product, or just an interesting cryptographic primitive.

-Guarding against bad actors: propose a design that protects the shielder from malicious use, understood as direct money laundering. It may be a version of a recently popular idea where users can prove that none of their funds originate from the specified set of ‘bad’ addresses, or that they do originate from a prespecified set of ‘good’ addresses, without revealing the particular origin. While the inspiration for this can come from the recently discussed Tornado Cash improvements, we would be happy to see also alternative designs and ideas achieving similar goals.

Aleph Zero - Cryptography

Performance optimization has been a focal point of the ZK-SNARK research in the past years for a good reason - proofs still take long enough time to compute to be noticeable or cumbersome even for the simplest applications. In this bounty we ask you to work on optimization of the shielder and benchmarking it against the current version using the provided framework. While of course all the tricks are allowed, some suggestions of things we would find interesting:
checking how implementation of Poseidon2 helps with the performance.
how using KZG commitments instead of Merkle trees (like in Semacaulk) influences proof generation time and gas fee?

Aleph Zero - Speed

Help to improve the Miden VM with one of the following ideas from below. Your code should be open source and available on GitHub.

Expanding the Miden Standard Library by adding support for
-256 bit int arithmetic (started here)
-elliptic curve cryptography
-floating points
-decoding/encoding RLP strings (see here)

Polygon Miden #1

Polygon

Build an application using the Miden VM that pushes the boundaries of what we have seen so far. Your code should be open source and available on GitHub.

-Build an awesome incomplete information game
(e.g. Stratego!, Mental Poker, zkMafia)
-Build a private order book-like auction tool using the Miden VM
-Build an application that makes the world a better place - e.g. e-healthcare (patient records database), verifying digital image origins
Build your own amazing idea

Polygon Miden #2

Find a bug at zkEVM code or smart contracts.
60% of the total bounty goes for Critical and High bugs
30% of the total bounty goes for Medium bugs
10% of the total bounty goes for Low bugs
The winners will need to fill up a Polygon KYC so they can receive the bounty.

In case more than one bug is found for each severity, the bounty will be spread equally.
During the workshop we will explain the different tooling and flows of both zkevm-rom and zkevm-contracts code.

Build an application using the RISC Zero zkVM. Ideally, your application will be open source with the full source code available on GitHub.

Examples:
-A DeFi project (i.e. CLOB or NFT-based financial products)
-A gaming use case (i.e. card trading games)

Although Scroll doesn’t expose any zero-knowledge primitives at the protocol level, our team is deeply committed to open-source, which is why we’re also considering any hacks focused on making technical or research contributions to an open-source ZK project, whether it touches Scroll or not.
